The most recent updates to COVID-19 requirements in school settings were made to vaccinations. The California Department of Public Health released information late last week indicating that the regulatory process for the COVID-19 vaccine requirement would be dropped for the 2022-23 school year.

Among high school teens, we are seeing an
increase in the use of counterfeit (fake/bogus) prescription
pills that contain lethal amounts of fentanyl. Since February
2021, 14 teens in our county have died from fentanyl
overdoses. Unless prescriptions pills come from a pharmacy,
there is no way of knowing if they are safe.

The end of this short week of school will get us through the midpoint of the month after the upcoming three-day weekend. The impact of COVID-19 within our communities and San Bernardino County remains low, allowing for the return of so many wonderful experiences that have not been allowed to occur during previous times throughout the pandemic. It has been a real joy witnessing our students and staff members being in such learning situations.

We start the month of April with the impact of COVID-19 remaining relatively low throughout the Snowline JUSD and across our region. I make this statement based on the data that we consistently monitor within our communities and throughout San Bernardino County. This will continue to ensure that the entire Snowline learning community has access to the most recent information connected to the pandemic.

I hope that the spring break went well for all of you. While the COVID-19 pandemic has been such a focus for everyone over the last two years, it is nice for me to think that a return to many of the pre-pandemic activities took place for everybody while our schools were closed.

This week of school finishes our first one with the new masking guidelines that are in place for safety against COVID-19. The movement from masks being required to strongly recommended allows for choice among all students and adults in school settings
